Profile Class:

Profile Classes define how energy is consumed at a supply point. There are 8 standard non-half-hourly classes and additional ones for half-hourly metering.

00 Half-Hourly Metered - Large businesses or high usage sites

01 Domestic Unrestricted - Standard single-rate domestic customer

02 Domestic Two-Rate - Economy 7 or similar two-rate tariff

03 Non-Domestic Unrestricted - Small businesses, single-rate tariff

04 Non-Domestic Two-Rate - Small businesses with two-rate meters

Only 00 is half-hourly metered; the rest are typically non-half-hourly.

Meter Time Switch Code:

Indicates the type of metering and tariff setup, such as single-rate or dual-rate (e.g., Economy 7). It helps determine when different electricity rates apply based on time of day.

Line Loss Factor:

Used to calculate energy losses and network charges as electricity is delivered to your location. Affects how much your supplier pays the network company and can influence your energy price.

Distributor ID:

Gas: MPRN - Meter Point Reference Number

It is a unique number used to identify the location where gas is delivered to a property.

Key Facts:

  • Length - Usually 6 to 10 digits (e.g. 1234567890)

  • Where to Find It - On your gas bill, or by contacting your gas supplier

  • Not on the meter - It is not physically printed on your gas meter

  • Issued by - The Gas Transporter (e.g., Cadent, SGN, etc.)

  • Used For - Identifying your gas supply point when switching or querying usage

Why is the MPRN Important?

Switching suppliers: Your new gas supplier will use the MPRN to identify your address and meter point.

Avoids confusion: Ensures you're billed correctly and not mixed up with a neighbour's gas supply.
